Raina’s two year toddler Diya would always play at the verandah. But Diya would never go to the well near the verandah. Although Raina would keep a strict eye ensuring Diya never went near the well, nonetheless, Diya herself also never went close to the well.
Time flew and Diya reached 5th Grade. While tying Diya’s pony tail, Raina smiled and said, ‘You know, as a toddler, you loved playing outside. But the best part was, you knew how to keep yourself safe. You never went near the well.’ Diya replied nonchalantly, ‘Yes, I never went because my grandpa always stopped me.’ Raina asked astounded, ‘What did you say?’ Diya replied, ‘Grandpa…. your father….he would watch me playing and would not let me go near the well.’
Raina’s dad had left for his heavenly abode the day Diya was born…..
