While Poorv drove off, Disha stood there staring at Poorv driving away. She had no idea this was coming. She turned around, closed the gate and went to her room. She sat on her bed thinking about all that happened. She had been talking to someone else presuming it was Poorv. She fell in love with an imaginary Poorv. She was hurt by a virtual Poorv who was nothing but an illusion. She had spent her time, her energy, her feelings for a mirage. And now all of a sudden the illusions became real. Poorv, the guy with the cute smile actually proposed her. The “Poorv” with whom she longed to spend her life with, turned out to be someone who liked her. Wasn’t this what she had prayed for? Wasn’t this what she had wished for?

Jahnvi was rushing to her car. Mushtaque stood right in front of her and smiled. She was shocked. Flashing his ID card, Mushtaque said, ‘ACP Mushtaque Khan.’ Jahnvi froze. Mushtaque said politely, ‘I came for a little talk with you. I have my colleague, Ms. Anita also with me. If you would cooperate and talk to us, it will be helpful.’ Jahnvi knew there was no point creating a scene here. She will have to tell the truth.

Mushtaque was wearing a pair of grey cargo trousers with a v necked black t shirt. His sturdy shoes were all dusty, thanks to those long walks for sleuthing. His aviator glasses added glamour to his already panache personified disposition. He looked around and then told Jahnvi, ‘ Let’s go to that cafe at the corner. We can talk there.’

Mushtaque, his colleague Anita and Jahnvi sat in one of the solitary corners of the cafeteria. Mushtaque then took of his sunglasses, kept them on the table, looked at Jahnvi and said, ‘So, why did you put the boys in trouble?’ Anita switched on the recording device. Jahnvi fiddled with her fingers and said in a jittery tone, ‘I…. I never wanted to do what I did.’ She then said, ‘I suffer from an abusive marriage. I have no peace at home. I wanted to escape from this hell. I had met Romit for the first time in college. I had never come across someone so nice in my entire life. His compassionate nature, his mature ideologies, his sweet talks, I never realized how I fell in love with him. But…..’. Jahnvi’s eyes welled up. She continued, ‘But, he loved Disha. He loved her so much.’ Then with a bitter voice Jahnvi said, ‘And Disha had all the happiness in her life. Such loving family and someone like Romit who would do anything for her. I wanted Romit to hate her. That was only possible if there was someone else in her life. In college I would tell Disha to marry Romit, but deep down I never wanted that. I knew Disha’s cousin Raunak very well, because Disha used to tell me about him a lot. I was the one who found Poorv’s profile by stalking Raunak’s profile. I used Amit and Rupesh to execute my plan. Disha then got busy with Poorv and then she barely had time to talk to Romit. But I wanted Disha to be hurt as well. She deserved all the pain because she had hurt Romit so much. And Romit…… he was waiting for Disha the other day at the cafe. Disha did not come. Romit was heartbroken that day. I had called him on the pretext of some college notes. Poor guy, he tried so hard to hide his pain, but his voice said it all and he did tell me that Disha was supposed to meet him but she did not come. That’s when I felt, Romit will now give up on Disha. He will forget her……’

Mushtaque listened to Jahnvi calmly and said, ‘And you involved your students for a fraud and you call yourself a teacher?’ Jahnvi broke into tears, looked at Mushtaque and said ‘I did not do the right thing by involving these kids. I don’t want them to suffer because of me. Please release them. I know I was the one who started the mess. Anyway my life has no meaning. You can arrest me. Just one request. Please take care of my children and protect them from my abusive husband.’ Mushtaque said, ‘If your husband is abusive, why are you quiet all these years? Why didn’t you seek help?’ Jahnvi cried. Mushtaque could feel those tears were genuine. Jahnvi said, ‘I am scared. He hits me and if I tell anyone about my misery and he comes to know of it, he may hurt my children as well. I tried to live separately and asked for a divorce as well. He just won’t agree. And worst part is, my parents never support divorce. And even if I file for divorce he might end up hurting me and my children more. If only he loved us. If only he took care of me and my children. I would not want a divorce. If only he changed.’ Saying that, Jahnvi sobbed like a baby. Mushtaque said, ‘You may have to come to the police station. Don’t try to do anything that will make this case worse. My colleague Anita will be monitoring you closely.

Mushtaque and Anita then went to the police station. Mushtaque called Disha, Raunak and Poorv to the police station too. There he made all of them listen to Jahnvi’s confession. He also made Disha, Raunak and Poorv talk to Amit and Rupesh. Mushtaque then told Disha, Raunak and Poorv, ‘I leave it to you to decide whether you want the police to take any action against these three. After you tell me, I will speak with Romit also. Based on that, the law will take its course.’ Poorv said, ‘Well, they hacked my social media account and they could have fiddled with my financial accounts and all. But they did not. I understand what they did was wrong, but, I have taken care of all the security issues now and I think these kids deserve a second chance and so does Jahnvi.’ Disha said, ‘I agree with Poorv. I have nothing against any of them. I don’t want their lives to be messed up. They should get a second chance.’ Raunak said, ‘I agree with Poorv and Disha.’ Mushtaque then called Romit to the police station to inform him about all that happened. Romit was shocked. He could not believe that all of this happened and all because of his love for Disha? Jahnvi was his friend and these students loved him. He can never wish ill for them. Romit told Mushtaque, ‘Please release the kids and don’t trouble Jahnvi. She has already gone through a lot in her life. I don’t want to file any case against my students or Jahnvi.’

Disha left the police station as soon as the formalities were over. She neither talked to Poorv nor Raunak nor Romit. Romit casually greeted Poorv and Raunak and went home. Romit had closely observed Poorv at the police station. Poorv was engrossed in looking at Disha through out. That’s when Romit realised that Poorv had fallen in love with Disha.

Poorv wanted to talk to Disha. He wanted to know her answer. But Disha left without saying anything. Raunak and Poorv were good friends but there were certain tiffs and tussle during college days because of which Raunak was not happy when he had heard about Poorv from Disha. Nonetheless, Poorv was a nice guy. So, if this alliance was to happen, Raunak would accept it.

Romit went home. He was lost throughout. All of this just because of ‘Love’ and ‘Hatred’. Jahnvi hated Disha because he loved Disha. Romit then thought about Poorv. The way Poorv looked at Disha at the Police station said a story about love. Poorv was handsome. He was rich. He was Raunak’s friend. And Disha deserved someone like Poorv. The name ‘PoorvDisha’ was beautiful. Romit told himself, ‘Yes, it hurts. It hurts a lot deep in some soft corner of the heart where Disha lives. And she will continue living there. Nothing is going to change there. But yes, it will be hard not to see Disha in college after she leaves this town to be with Poorv.’ Romit’s eyes were blood shot red with tears. He went to the washroom to wash his face. He then had to cancel the car loan he had applied for. Well, Disha’s car was old. Disha always wanted an automatic transmission car. He had thought, if he bought an automatic transmission car, Disha could drive this car. But now, he would cancel this loan. Poorv has way better cars.

Romit took his phone and went out to make a phone call to the guy with whom he had spoken about the car loan. He stood in the verandah and was about to make the phone call when he saw Disha coming. He was surprised. Disha opened the gate and came inside. Romit said surprised, ‘Disha! You! At this time? All okay?’ Disha smiled at Romit and said, ‘Why? Do I need to check the right time and seek permission to come to your home?’ Romit said, ‘Of course not. You can come anytime. Please come in.’ Disha said, ‘I have come to tell you something Romit.’ Romit looked at Disha and said, ‘I think I know what you want to tell me Disha.’ Disha looked at Romit and said, ‘Really? What is it?’ Romit smiled and said, ‘Poorv is a nice guy Disha. You will be very happy with him.’ Disha smiled and said, ‘Wow! You know a lot. You are right. Poorv is a nice guy and I may be happy with him.’ Romit faked a smile and said, ‘Yes Disha.’ Disha then said, ‘But, you are a nicer guy and I am sure I will be super happy with you.’ Romit was dumbstruck. Disha’s eyes welled up. She looked at Romit, held his hand and said, ‘How can someone love someone so much Romit? How could you love me so much when I did not deserve to be loved by someone so nice like you!’ Disha then went down on her knees, held Romit’s hand and said, ‘Marry me Romit! Please!’ Romit felt as if everything was a dream. He pinched himself. Disha laughed and cried at the same time. She said, ‘My legs are hurting Romit. Answer me fast.’ Romit quickly bent and helped Disha stand up and hugged her tight. Disha’s tears drenched Romit’s shirt. Romit’s tears rolled down his cheeks and drenched Disha’s pretty pink Kurti. Romit said, ‘Yes Disha, I will marry you and will buy you a new kurti because I spoilt this one with my tears.’ Both of them laughed and hugged again. Disha then gently pulled herself away and looked at Romit’s eyes. So much love in those eyes. How could she not feel that earlier! She came closer to Romit and kissed his lips softly. Time came to a standstill and the blossom of love bloomed in the fragrant air of bliss.

Before coming to meet Romit, Disha had already called Poorv and told her what her answer was. Poorv left the town the following evening.

Meanwhile Mushtaque was also about to leave but he had to fix something before that. He had told Anita to find out all the details about Jahnvi’s husband. Jahnvi had told the truth about her husband. Indeed he was a tyrant. Anita had spoken with Jahnvi’s neighbours and collected all the evidence which proved that every word Jahnvi had told about her husband was true. After getting all the details, Mushtaque had met Jahnvi’s husband. After that, all of a sudden Jahnvi was in for a pleasant surprise. Her husband suddenly turned a new leaf and showered love and affection on her and her children. Jahnvi never knew how that happened but her sad life transformed into a super beautiful story in just one day. And this story will continue because Mushtaque’s officers in town will monitor things.

And yes, ‘PoorvDisha’ never happened but ‘Romisha’ (Romit and Disha) happened and they lived happily ever after………….

The end.
