Officer Shalaka came near Mushtaque, handed him the file and said, ‘Here you are Sir. This file has everything we need to present Sohum Awasthi in the court.’ Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘Thank you.’ Mushtaque then said, ‘Thank you for the help from you and your team.’ Shalaka smiled and said, ‘I just did my duty.’ Mushtaque said, ‘And you did it very well. Proud of you.’ Shalaka then said, ‘I just received an appreciation mail from Parvati Maám.’ Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘You deserve it officer.’ Saying that Mushtaque left for the guesthouse. Officer Shalaka stood there smiling, happy at her success on her first assignment.

It was late. Mehek and Maithili were fast asleep in Maithili’s room. Saanchi was wide awake. She was worried for Mushtaque. She was reading a book trying to distract herself from all the worries. When Saanchi saw Mushtaque, she beamed and said, ‘Pheww. Finally you are here. Where…..’. Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘Where what?’ Saanchi smiled and said, ‘Sorry. I know I am not supposed to ask you two specific questions “where were you or where are you going?”. Those are forbidden questions. I cannot ask these questions to a cop.’ Mushtaque laughed and went closer to Saanchi, clutched her waist softly and pulled her closer to himself. He then looked at her eyes and whispered, ‘When a cop husband comes home, questions are forbidden but kisses are not.’ Saanchi blushed. Mushtaque went closer to Saanchi, brushed away the strands of hair covering her soft neck and kissed there gently. Saanchi closed her eyes. Mushtaque then kissed Saanchi’s soft lips. The world became all the more beautiful to them and they were lost in the microcosm of their love.

Next morning, at breakfast, Mushtaque saw Maithili eating hurriedly. Mushtaque said, ‘Don’t rush through the breakfast Maithili. One should always eat peacefully.’ Maithili said, ‘Jiju, Sohum Awasthi will skin me alive if I don’t reach class on time.’ Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘He won’t. Don’t worry. Eat peacefully.’ Maithili looked at Mushtaque confused and said, ‘I don’t understand.’ Mushtaque said, ‘You don’t have to understand now. Will tell you everything later. By the way, we are leaving for Mt Serene tomorrow. We will come back in couple of days and then we will go back to our home town.’ Maithili said, ‘That’s such a beautiful hill station. However it is very cold out there. I think Mehek will not be comfortable there. Last night Mehek slept over in my room. I noticed she has allergy issue. Her nose was blocked. Saanchi di had told me to give her those anti allergy nasal drops. I was wondering if you let Mehek be with me while you guys go to Mt Serene. I will be visiting my home town for couple of days. I would love to take Mehek with me. Maa will also be very happy.’ Mehek looked at Saanchi and said, ‘Mommy, can I please be with Maithili for some days? She is so much fun.’ Saanchi knew Maithili and her family very well. She looked at Mushtaque seeking his approval. Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘Sure.’

There was chaos in the college regarding Sohum Awasthi’s arrest. The police informed the principal that the details will be shared soon. Since Sohum Awasthi’s class was cancelled, the students split for a break. Anu, Maithili and Rafique went to the cafeteria. Raghav was also there with Mohit. Seeing Maithili, Raghav was elated. He went near her and said, ‘If you don’t mind, would you like to come with me for tea at the tea shop out there?’ Rafique saw them. He knew Maithili had a soft corner for Raghav. Anu looked at Rafique’s eyes. She saw Maithili in them. Nonetheless, she loved Rafique. So what if it is a one sided love story. Her love for Rafique was true.

At the tea shop, Raghav looked at Maithili and said, ‘In some time, I will move out of this town. I will be completing my post graduation and then look for a job. I may have to relocate to a new place. Maithili looked at Raghav shocked and said, ‘It means you will not look for a job here?’ Raghav said earnestly, ‘No. I want to go out of this place and explore.’ Maithili looked at her cup of tea and said softly, ‘I will miss you.’ Raghav said puzzled, ‘Wait, what?’ Maithili said, ‘N…..no nothing.’ Raghav said, ‘You said something. Can you say it again?’. Maithili looked at Raghav with coy eyes and said, ‘ I….think…..’ Raghav said, ‘Think what?’ Maithili said, ‘I think…..I will miss you.’ Maithili quickly looked away from Raghav’s eyes. Raghav grinned and said, ‘And why will you miss me?’ Maithili blushed. Raghav said, ‘I am waiting.’ Maithili said, ‘Because…..you are a very nice person.’ Raghav said, ‘Oh okay. That’s all?’ Maithili nodded. Raghav said, ‘Fine then. I will miss you too. I was thinking once I settle down in the new place, I will take my love with me there. But then, since you don’t love me…..’. Maithili said suddenly, ‘I love you….’ Raghav grinned, held Maithili’s hand and said, ‘Can you say it again please?’ Maithili blushed and said, ‘I….love you.’ Raghav smiled and said, ‘That’s all I wanted to hear. Well, Maithili, you are in first year of MBBS now, while I will be completing my post graduation in some time. But then, I will wait for you till you graduate. Yes, I will relocate to a new place, but that never means you will not be there in my life. I will come to meet you often and of course we will always be connected through our phones and the chords of emotions. Right?’ Maithili blushed and nodded.

Mount Serene was one heavenly abode. The hotel was a plush hotel. Saanchi and Mushtaque stepped out of the hotel to delve deep in the world of romance in the snow clad mountains. They held each other close, Saanchi clicked pictures of the alluring landscape, the mountains, the snow and not to forget selfies. Mushtaque enjoyed seeing Saanchi smile.Just then Mushtaque’s phone rang. It was from Parvati. Mushtaque had to report to work in two days. Well something had come up. Who knows what new adventure will follow now………….
