Mrs. Verma stormed into Mrs. Sharma’s home. Why? Mrs. Sharma’s daughter Seher had allegedly stolen Mrs. Verma’s pure gold mangalsutra. Mrs. Sharma was taken aback. How can her 7 year old daughter ‘steal’? Mrs. Sharma asked Seher, ‘ Seher did you take anything from Verma Aunty’s home?’. Seher got confused and said, ‘Why would I do that mommy?’ Mrs. Verma yelled and said, ‘I saw her with my own eyes fiddling with my mangalsutra.’ Seher looked innocently at Mrs.Verma and said, ‘What is a mangalsutra? I have not been to your home for the past couple of days. Sonia did not want to play with me.’ Sonia was Mrs. Verma’s daughter. Mrs. Sharma ransacked her whole house. She knew Seher would not lie. Why on earth will Seher take something and Seher would never lie. Mrs. Verma stood there as stubborn as a mule claiming Seher has stolen her necklace. Mrs. Sharma stood there aghast unable to find the necklace anywhere. Mr. Sharma rushed home from office because of this hullabaloo. Mrs. Sharma had called him home. Mrs. Verma said, ‘I will call the police now.’ Mrs. Sharma was almost in tears when Mrs. Goswami suddenly came. Mrs. Goswami said, ‘I heard everything from my kitchen. Is this the “mangalsutra” you are looking for Mrs.Verma?’ Saying that, Mrs.Goswami handed over a necklace to Mrs. Verma. Mrs. Verma looked at it surprised and said, ‘Oh yes. This is the one.’ Mrs. Goswami sternly said, ‘You daughter Sonia was wearing it when she came to play with my daughter Sara. Accidentally she must have dropped it. I found it lying amidst toys in Sara’s room. Before you call Sara a thief now, after framing Seher, let me tell you, this necklace is not even made of pure gold. Its price will be hardly 2000 bucks. Before framing kids, please be somewhat sensitive.’ Mrs. Verma beat a hasty retreat. She quietly went home with that necklace.

Next day, the newspaper headlines showed, ‘Thief busy in money laundering. Renowned businessman Mr. Ashok Verma arrested for money laundering.’ Ashok Verma was Mrs. Verma’s husband.
