It was the usual hustle bustle in the Kothari household. Hiren Kothari had made this huge mansion keeping in mind all his children, their respective spouses and grand children. Hiren Kothari had left for his heavenly abode some years ago leaving behind his wife Lata Kothari, his four sons, Sumedh Kothari, Subhash Kothari, Sumit Kothari and Som Kothari. Sumitra Kothari was Sumedh’s wife, Naina Kothari was Subhash’s wife, Tripti Kothari was Sumit’s wife and Urmi Kothari was Som’s wife. Sumedh and Sumitra were blessed with three children, Anurag, Aavish and Aanya. Subhash and Naina were blessed with two children, Saanya and Sanmit. Sumit and Tripti were blessed with three children, Vedant, Vishaka and Varun. Urmi and Som were blessed with a daughter, Dviti.

Hiren Kothari had left behind a flourishing business of ‘Kothari Enterprise’ which was reigning in the market. Their primary business was in the segment of garments, cars, shoes and electronic appliances. Sumedh , Subhaash, Sumit and Som managed all the responsibilities very well with Sumedh leading and guiding them. Things were very busy for these brothers with back to back official tours, client meetings, new offices to be launched and so on and so forth till Anurag and Aavish joined the company. Anurag was 30, Aavish was 27. Anurag had joined this company when he was 25. He had spent sleepless nights and days in bringing this company to new heights.

Well, with such a huge mansion and so many family members, not to forget house helps, drivers, cleaners, gardeners, cooks, the mansion was always hustling. Lata Kothari was 75 and was fit as a fiddle. She would wake up at 5:30 a.m. every day and would go for a walk. She would then come back, take shower, go to the temple, offer her prayers and then would go and sit comfortably on the majestic swing on the porch. That’s when her eldest daughter in law Sumitra would come with Lata’s black tea. Lata had been an ardent fitness freak since childhood. She had got married to Hiren Kothari when she was 18. Their relationship had been rock solid. She had seen him fighting failure, she had seen him bearing huge losses, there was a time when they had to live in a one room house. However, she always stood by him. She had immense faith in her Almighty and Guruji Chaitanya. After Chaitanya Guruji passed away, his son Lakshya Guruji took over, Without consulting him, the Kothari family never took any decision.

Lata was looking at the gardener clipping some dry leaves from some flower plants when Sumitra came with Lata’s favourite black tea with basil leaves. Sumitra gave Lata the cup of tea, smiled warmly and said, ‘Good Morning Maa’. Lata smiled and said, ‘It is indeed a good morning for me, I hope it is “good morning” for you too.’ Lata said with a perturbed note, ‘You know what’s troubling me. Anurag is 30. How long are we going to keep Tanaya waiting? Rajesh Verma wants Tanaya to get married to Anurag soon. Sipping her cup of tea, Lata said, ‘Yes, I know. We cannot keep Tanaya waiting for long. But we cannot go against Lakshya Guruji. Sumitra replied, ‘No, we should never go against him.’ Lata nodded and said, ‘I will call Guruji today. Let’s see what he says.’

Sumitra was about to leave when Kashish came. Kashish’s father used to work as a gardener in the Kothari Mansion . He had served this family since Kashish was born. Kashish lost her mother when she was only 4 years old. After that Kashish grew up in the outhouse of the Kothari mansion. Lata Kothari loved Kashish like her own grand daughter and she ensured Kashish was never deprived of education. She wanted Kashish to get a good job so that Kashish is financially independent. Sanjay passed away two years ago. After that Kashish continued staying in the outhouse and helped around all the housework before going to college and after coming back from college. Kashish was pursuing masters in History from one of the pioneer universities of the city. She was 21 years old, around 5 feet 4 inches tall, skinny and fair with an oval face, straight edged nose and deep set eyes. She had jet-black long strands of silky hair which she always tied into a neat plait. She used to wear plain loose salwar suits with a dupatta pinned up perfectly. Her dad had gifted her a gold pendant when she was 16. That pendent used to glisten in her slender neck. She was chirpy and happy all the time. Things had always been hard for her but she had accepted her destiny. Now the Kothari family was all she had. A distant aunt of her named Kaamini, stayed with her.

Kashish wished Good morning to Sumitra and Lata and said, ‘I will go and make breakfast. What should I make today?’ Sumitra said kindly, ‘Make plain paranthas for your Anurag Sir. Serve that with some curd. He likes simple breakfast. For the rest, make grilled sandwiches with a lot of veggies. Make some water melon juice, scrambled eggs for the kids. Your Aavish Sir likes eggs with sunny side up, and Dviti likes boiled eggs.’ Kashish smiled and said, ‘And not to forget coffee and tea.’ Lata laughed and said, ‘Yes. And ask the other cooks to help you. You have to reach university on time.’

As Kashish was about to leave, Sanmit came. He was going to the gym. When he saw Kashish, he smiled at her. Kashish smiled back at him and went to the kitchen. Sanmit was 25 years old. He wanted to become an actor. Well, it was not difficult to get a break through the contacts of the Kothari family, but he wanted to finish his acting course and then give acting a shot. Every time he saw Kashish he felt something deep in his heart. With a height of 5 feet 9 inches, wavy hair, sturdy structure, fair complexion and a round face with a grecian nose, Sanmit looked cute.

Kashish quickly laid the breakfast table and looked at the clock. It was 8:00 a.m. sharp. Everyone was at the breakfast table by 8:15 a.m. Kashish would eat with the other househelps in the kitchen. While having breakfast, Subhaash looked at Sumedh and said, ‘What have you thought about the deal with our new clients?’ Sumedh said with a concerned note, ‘We all know about it. Till Anurag and Tanaya’s wedding, we have bleak hope of that deal. We would need Rajesh Verma’s cooperation here.’ Anurag listened without saying anything. Anurag spoke very less. With a height of 6 feet, crew cut hair, dusky complexion, pointed nose, lean structure, Anurag could turn heads. He was handsome. He was the heart throb of many girls. However, owing to his reticent nature and his love for career, he was never in a relationship. Tanaya had met him in one business event and after that she fell head over heels in love with him. Tanaya was the only daughter of Rajesh Verma. She was an MBA from Harvard University. She was not only intelligent but also attractive. When Rajesh Verma had talked about the alliance, Sumedh and Sumitra were happy to say yes. As for Anurag, he did not have anyone in his life. So he was okay with the alliance.

Subhaash continued, ‘So then why are we waiting? We should get Anurag and Tanaya married soon.’ Before Sumedh could say something , Lata said sternly, ‘Of course the ceremony will take place soon. But, there has to be an auspicious time for that. After all our Anurag is getting married. We will talk to Lakshya Guruji and based on that we will decide.’

The only problem with the alliance was Anurag had a ‘Dosh’(Fault) in his horoscope. If that is not fixed, there are chances of Anurag becoming a widower within couple of days of his marriage. Guruji had told this to Rajesh Verma, Sumedh Kothari, Sumitra Kothari and Lata. Rest, no one knew about it.
