Kashish could not believe what she was seeing. Her eyes turned blood red and heavy drops of tears dripped from those agonized eyes. She rested her back on the wall behind, sat on the floor of that empty corridor, covered her mouth tightly to stop herself from crying out loud. She whimpered. Such excruciating pain! Why? Why did Anurag do this to her? So, all of this care, love, affection, all of it was charade? His late night office is all about this? ‘Anurag Sir, how could you do this to me?’ saying this to herself, she sobbed. Anurag Sir, who never forced himself on her, Anurag Sir who believed in commitment, Anurag Sir, who believed in love, Anurag Sir, who never even entered her room without her permission, is now seen making love with another woman! Anurag Sir! Why? Kashish cried and cried and cried. She could cry forever. The world around her seemed to fade away. She was lost in the gloom of darkness. She wanted to cry endlessly. Just then her phone rang. It was from Nishi. Kashish cannot let anyone know about what she was going through. She must hide her tears. If anyone came to know about it, Anurag’s reputation will be at stake. She quickly wiped her tears. She then rushed to the washroom to wash her face. She then put the phone in her bag and rushed to her class. Nishi and Akshit were waiting for her. Seeing Kashish, Nishi said, ‘There she is.’ Akshit asked Kashish, ‘Where were you? We were trying to reach you since long.’ Kashish said, ‘Uh….I had to go out of the campus to get a medicine from the pharmacy across the road.’ Nishi asked concerned, ‘Oh! Are you okay Kashish?’ Akshit asked perturbed, ‘But you were fine till lunch break. What happened?’ Kashish gave a fake smile and said, ‘Come on guys. Chill! Nothing to be worried about. I got a migraine attack and I know I will not be able to bear it if it becomes severe. So, before it became worse, I had to take the medicine. Unfortunately, I could not find any in my bag hence I had to go to the medical store.’ Nishi smiled and said, ‘Oh okay! But in that you missed a class. Anyway, you can take my notebook. Copy the notes and bring it back tomorrow.’ Akshit said, ‘You could have told me Kashish. I could have bought the medicines for you.’ Smiling weakly, Kashish said, ‘It’s okay Akshit.’

Anurag was so tied up with work that he did not get time to have lunch. His tummy was rumbling with hunger. He was ravenously hungry. Kashish had packed his lunch box before she had left for college. Kashish knew Anurag was not fond of restaurant food. He always enjoyed home made food. So she ensures she packs his lunch box before leaving for college. Anurag somehow wrapped up his meetings and went to his cabin to grab his lunch box. He took the lunch box and went to the cafeteria. He went to the microwave to heat up the food. He took out the containers in the lunch box one by one. Kashish had packed soft chapatis, salad, peas and cottage cheese curry and some yogurt in his lunch box. Anurag beamed at the food. The lunchbox had everything he loved and that too in the right portion. He detested over eating. He thought of Kashish. What a thoughtful girl she is. He had not spoken to her since morning. He would talk to her now while having lunch. Her classes would be over too by now. He grabbed a nice corner table at the cafeteria and put on his airpods. He then called Kashish and started eating his food.

Kashish’s phone rang. Kashish looked at the number. ‘Anurag Sir!’. No! She does not want to talk to him. She let the phone ring. Akshit was standing beside Kashish. He was surprised when Kashish deliberately avoided the call. Akshit smiled to himself and thought, ‘ Things don’t seem good between Kashish and her Anurag Sir! Well….Good for me.’ Anurag was puzzled. Kashish might miss his call if she was in class or busy with some work or commuting, but then she would always call back or text. Since morning, she is behaving strange. It seemed she was trying to avoid him. ‘Is Kashish avoiding me or is it just a figment of my imagination? More so, why would she avoid me? Did I upset her? Did I hurt her unknowingly?’, Anurag thought. As Anurag was lost in those thoughts, Sara came. She said, ‘Here you are! I have been looking for you all over.’ Anurag asked concerned, ‘Why? Any problem popped up? Did the clients call again?’ Sara replied, ‘No no, nothing of that sort. We could not catch up during lunch. I thought maybe we could have coffee together. But at coffee time now, you are having lunch.’ Anurag replied, ‘Oh yes! Busy day.’ Sara said, ‘ Days will always be busy, but you must take out time for yourself.’ Anurag nodded with a ‘Hmm’. He could not focus on what Sara was saying. He was engrossed in thoughts of Kashish. He hoped she would call back but she didn’t. Sara continued, ‘Anurag…… I know I have been bugging you a lot……but can you please help me get my daughter.’ Anurag was a kind human. He found it very hard to say no to things which meant the world for someone. Sara was seeking his help for her daughter. Her daughter meant the world to her. How could he not help her? Anurag said, ‘Okay Sara! I will meet your parents.’ Sara held Anurag’s hand and said, ‘Thank you so much Anurag!’ Anurag then looked at Sara and said, ‘I am done with my lunch. I will get back to work now. You please enjoy your coffee. See you.’ Sara wanted Anurag to be with her, but then it did not matter much now because anyway, things were working.

Akshit told Kashish, ‘Let me drop you home today. Why do you bother taking the bus? It’s so crowded.’ Nishi interrupted, ‘Akshit, you are a rash bike rider. I wouldn’t want Kashish to pillion ride when you are driving.’ Akshit snapped at Nishi and said, ‘Do you think you are only one concerned about Kashish.’ Nishi sneered at Akshit and said, ‘Oh yes. Because I am her best friend.’ Kashish tried to stop the verbal fight between Akshit and Nishi. Kashish said, ‘Fine guys. Don’t fight now. Anyway I missed one bus. The other would arrive after half an hour. Akshit, if you could drop me home. I don’t want to be late.’ Nishi looked at Kashish surprised, ‘Are you sure you want to go with this monkey?’ Akshit raged at Nishi. He said, ‘If I am a monkey. You are a donkey.’ Before the fight between Akshit and Nishi became ugly, Kashish told Akshit, ‘Let’s go.’

Anurag could not concentrate on his work. He thought of going home early so that he could talk to Kashish. He felt it was all his figment of imagination. Kashish could never be upset with him and even if she was, she would tell him. But, he wanted to clear the air by talking to Kashish. Without informing anyone at work, Anurag left for home. He did not want to be disturbed at least tonight. He was stuck in traffic for an hour or so. Same story with Kashish and Akshit. By the time Kashish and Akshit reached the Kothari mansion, Anurag also reached. He was surprised to see Kashish with some guy. Not that Anurag had any problem with it. But, Kashish always used to walk home from the bus stop. Nonetheless, that was not important. Good that he met Kashish outside the gate. Maybe he can take her out for coffee and he can talk with her there. Anurag waited for Akshit to leave. The moment Akshit left, Anurag got off his car and before Kashish went inside the mansion, he called her, ‘Kashish!’ Kashish turned around. Seeing Anurag, she wanted to flee from that place. She had so many questions in her mind. She wanted to ask him all of those. She did not want to believe in the pictures or the video she had seen. But she was shattered. There had to be some truth in those pictures and video. Without saying a thing, Kashish went inside. Anurag stood there shocked. What had happened? Why is she behaving this way? Anurag called his driver to park the car while he followed Kashish. Kashish rushed to her room and closed the door of her room leaving Anurag clueless.

Sara was talking to someone over the phone. The person at the other end said, ‘You are doing well. When are you going to take the next steps?’ Sara smiled wickedly and said, ‘Very soon. He has agreed to come with me.’ The person at the other end said, ‘Okay! That’s fine. Now, listen to me carefully. I am sending you some details. Look at the pictures carefully.’ Sara replied, ‘What’s the plan?’ The voice said, ‘Very simple. Before you go ahead with the next steps, something happens to the person in the picture. I will send someone to get that done. Your job is to click some pictures of some of the scenes. You will need to edit some bit as well. You are adept in that. That’s all.’ Sara nodded and said, ‘Yes. I need my money on time though and I need to get out of this place after your job is done.’ The person said, ‘Don’t worry about it.’
