After the last class of the day Kashish told Nishi, ‘You know what, I would need my clothes and books.’ Nishi nodded and said, ‘Yup. So, do you plan to go there and get those?’ Kashish replied softly, ‘I can’t go there.’ Nishi looked at Kashish and said, ‘And why not?’ Kashish looked back at Nishi and replied earnestly, ‘You know why? I don’t want to repeat the same things.’ Nishi looked away from Kashish, put her books inside the bag and said, ‘ Well, right. We should not play the same old record again and again. Anyway, you decide what to do and let me know.’ Kashish said, ‘Why don’t you go and get the books?’ Nishi looked at Kashish surprised and said, ‘ What? Kashish, sweetheart, I don’t know anyone there. And after all the mess that happened there, I don’t want to go there.’ Kashish held Nishi’s hand and said, ‘Nishi, please only this once. Please….’ Nishi smiled at Kashish and said, ‘Anything for you. Let’s do this. I will go to Kothari mansion now and get the books. You go home. You have a spare key, don’t you?’ Kashish said, ‘Thank you so much Nishi.’ Nishi said, ‘No sorry, no thank you between friends. Forgot the golden rule?’ Kashish smiled and said, ‘Got it girl.’ Nishi said, ‘Cool. See you after sometime.’
Aavish reached the café way ahead of time. He wanted to call Nishi to see if she started from college or not. But then that might send some idea that he was desperate. Well was he desperate? Yes, he was. No, not for anything else, but to meet Nishi. Well, cupid did struck him earlier once. But then, once he dated the girl, somehow things did not work out. Aavish was not looking at short, transitory relationship. He was looking forward to settle down with someone. Aavish wanted a steady relationship. He had always admired Kashish and Anurag’s relationship. He felt Anurag was lucky to have found love in Kashish. However, in case of Aavish, many girls tried to be with him primarily because they thought life would be easy with him because he came from an affluent family. Well, he knew every girl would want financial security, but then, that should not be the only reason. He did go out on couple of dates earlier, but then he realised, the idea of the dates were primarily to enjoy either with passionate physical love or about gifts and riches. Aavish was a generous guy. He had no problem spending money. But then, he was never extravagant. He understood the need of expressing love but he could not shower wealth on anyone just to show that he loved her. Love is primarily by action not by words or show of wealth. Well, now he wanted to know Nishi. He did keep his fingers crossed but he did not keep his hopes high. What if, she too turned out to be someone who was more into showing off and less of true feelings. And just then he saw Nishi walking towards his table. She was wearing a knee length black kurti paired with a pair of denim trousers. She wore a light pink scarf over her kurti, tied into a neat knot. Her hair was tied into a pony tail and she hung her college bag on her left shoulder. She was wearing a pair of beige ballerinas on her feet. She had a nude lipstick shade on her lips and her eyes had a thin layer of kohl. Seeing her, Aavish stood up to greet her. Nishi smiled and said, ‘ Hello!’ Aavish replied, ‘Hi! Thanks for coming!’ Nishi pulled a chair, kept her bag there and sat on the chair right in front of Aavish, looked at Aavish and said in friendly tone, ‘Oh please! In fact I should thank you. After all, maybe we can figure out something to bring Kashish closer to the love of her life.’ Aavish laughed and said, ‘Right! In fact I have thought of something. But, before that, what would you like to have? You can check the menu.’ Nishi replied, ‘I don’t need the menu. If they have cheese sandwich, I would like to have one with coffee.’ Aavish called the waiter and said, ‘ One cheese sandwich and a cup of coffee and one veg grilled sandwich and cup of tea.’ The waiter wrote down the order and went away. Nishi looked at Aavish and said, ‘So, you like tea more than coffee?’ Aavish replied, ‘Yes. I prefer tea to coffee. Seems you are a coffee fan.’ Nishi laughed and said, ‘No no, I am addicted to tea. But this café serves awesome coffee. Hence I thought of having coffee.’ Nishi then continued, ‘By the way, can you help me with something?’ Aavish replied, ‘Sure! Tell me.’ Nishi said, ‘Kashish would need her books and clothes. She has asked me to get those. I can’t bring all of them at once because I don’t have a car. But, I can bring them in batches. So, can you tell me when can I come to collect those?’ Aavish knew that Anurag was going to deliver the books to Kashish today itself because that’s what the plan was. However, he wanted to see how Nishi would respond if he said something else. Aavish said, ‘Umm, since you don’t have a car, I can send my driver to pick you up from college. You can come to our home, check and collect Kashish’s books and clothes and then the driver will drop you home.’ Nishi replied immediately, ‘Thank you so much. But, you know Aavish, my class timings keep on changing. Moreover, why to trouble your driver unnecessarily. He would have other important chores. I will manage. You don’t worry about that. Just let me know when can I come.’ Aavish replied, ‘There is no trouble Nishi. I can send the driver.’ Nishi replied earnestly, ‘No no Aavish, that’s not the case. See, your home is far. The driver would have to take two long trips and then he will have to come back to Kothari mansion again. Why so many trips when I can come once and grab the stuff. Let’s keep things easy.’ Aavish smiled to himself and kept on listening to Nishi. The food arrived. Nishi beamed at the food and said, ‘I was starving. The sandwich looks so good.’ Aavish smiled and said, ‘Yes.’ Aavish grabbed his sandwich and said, ‘You know what Nishi….I have an idea. Why don’t I ask Anurag Bhai to give the clothes and books to Kashish. I will ask our househelp Latika to pack the stuff.’ While munching on her sandwich, Nishi looked at Aavish and said, ‘Why, that’s a brilliant idea! They can meet too that way.’ Aavish added, ‘Right! But wouldn’t it be better if they meet alone, when you are not at home.’ Nishi thought for a while and replied, ‘Yes. That will be great. But I am always with Kashish. When do we plan this then?’ Aavish pretended to think and then said, ‘Why don’t I ask Latika to get the stuff ready today. And I know, Anurag Bhai. No matter how busy he is, he would not miss an opportunity to meet Kashish. Meanwhile, maybe we can talk for some more time and go to some nearby place for dinner. We can have early dinner and go home. What say?’ Nishi thought for a while and said, ‘Sounds good. Works.’ Just then the waiter came and said, ‘Is there anything else I can get for you?’ Nishi said, ‘No thank you. I am good.’ Aavish said, ‘I am good too. You can get the bill.’ While the waiter went ahead to get the bill, Aavish said, ‘There is a nice river facing walkway 45 minutes from here. Would you like to go there now?’ Nishi said, ‘Yes, okay! Anyway we need to give some privacy to Kashish and Anurag Sir.’ Aavish interrupted, ‘Call him Anurag bhai. After all my brother, so your brother too.’ Nishi looked at Aavish curiously. Aavish said immediately, ‘I meant….he is senior to you, right and “Sir” is a very formal term.’ Nishi smiled and said, ‘Yes right. But you are senior to me too. I think I will also call you Aavish Bhai.’ Aavish almost shrieked, ‘NO…. I mean….. we all have a first name. I prefer people calling me by my first name.’ Trying to keep a straight face, Nishi said, ‘Oh ok.’ The waiter came with the bill. Aavish was about to take out his credit card, when Nishi took out the exact amount of cash and gave it to the waiter. Aavish said, ‘Wait, what are you doing! Please let me pay.’ Nishi said, ‘Oh come on Aavish. It’s just sandwich and beverage. Moreover, we came here to talk about my friend Kashish so this is my treat.’ Aavish replied, ‘Well, we were here to talk about my brother Anurag as well. So, I should be the one paying the bill.’ Nishi then said, ‘Well, then let’s go dutch. I hate it when people my bills or else, let’s do this. I pay for this treat. You pay for dinner. Done?’ Aavish knew he was falling for Nishi.

Saanchi asked Mushtaque, ‘So what are you planning to do now to bring Kashish and Anurag together.’ Mushtaque said, ‘Well, you know what, I really don’t know how to bring love birds closer.’ Saanchi came closer to him and said, ‘That’s because I came closer to you without fail.’ Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘True that. I wish Kashish would do the same with Anurag.’ Saanchi said, ‘ Well, Kashish would have done it had it not been related to her self respect. She has been through a lot. The only reason she is distancing herself from Anurag is because she lost her favourite person Lata grandma and then she was tortured, mistreated and hated and all because of loving Anurag. She feels it’s way better to live in peace without love than live with love but no self respect and peace of mind.’ Mushtaque nodded, ‘Yes, you are right. But what do we do now to bring Kashish and Anurag together. Anurag is in pain. I have felt that.’ Saanchi replied, ‘Hmm. Well chance meeting helps.’ Mushtaque said, ‘I did not understand.’ Saanchi wrapped her arms around Mushtaque’s chest, put her head there gently and said, ‘Well, since we are here now, we can arrange a tiny get together here at the guesthouse and we will ensure Kashish and Anurag stay back that night. The more time they spend with each other, the closer they will come. You know what I mean.’ Saying that Saanchi winked. Mushtaque laughed and held Saanchi’s face with his palms cupped on her soft cheeks and said, ‘You are one darling.’ Saying that he kissed her cheek. Saanchi giggled.

Anurag rang the door bell of Nishi’s home. He was carrying a bag with him. It had the books and clothes. Kashish looked through the peep hole. She was surprised to see Anurag. Why was he here? Kashish did not want to talk to Anurag because she knew talking to him would only make her weak. But now that he is standing outside, she had to answer the door. Kashish opened the door. Anurag looked at her, smiled and said, ‘How are you?’ Kashish replied, ‘I am fine. How are you?’ Anurag replied, ‘Alive.’ Kashish did not say anything. Anurag said, ‘Well, I got your books and clothes. You would need them.’ Kashish hesitated and said, ‘Why did you take trouble? I had asked Nishi to get them anyway.’ Before Anurag could say anything, his phone rang. It was from Mushtaque.
Anurag: Hey Mushtaque
Mushtaque: Dude, where are you?
Anurag: I…I am at Nishi’s home. Had come to give Kashish her books.
Mushtaque(smiling to himself): Well, could you please be there for sometime. Saanchi is here with me and I and Saanchi are going that way itself. Saanchi wanted to meet you. If you could wait there for sometime. We are on our way.
Anurag: Well….ok….I will wait.
Mushtaque: See you then.
Anurag disconnected the call and told Kashish, ‘Mushtaque just called. He said he is coming this way and he wants to meet me. He asked me to wait here. If you don’t mind…..’ Kashish replied, ‘Yes, okay! Please come in.’
Anurag went in. Kashish said, ‘Please have a seat. I will get you some tea.’ Anurag replied, ‘No Kashish! I am fine. Please don’t bother.’ Kashish replied softly, ‘Anyway, I was making tea for myself. All I need to do is add one more cup of water and some milk. It will be done in a jiffy.’ Anurag replied, ‘Okay then!’ Anurag loved being with Kashish. Kashish wanted to go and hug Anurag. Anurag wanted to hold Kashish in his arms and forget the world. But he knew, things have changed now. Kashish would not like it. And he would never force himself on her.

Saanchi told Mushtaque, ‘What’s next?’ Mushtaque said, ‘Well Anurag is there with Kashish at Nishi’s home. He had gone there to give her the books.’ Saanchi added, ‘And you asked him to stay put there because we were going there to meet them.’ Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘Yes….’ Saanchi laughed and said, ‘ And you know very well that we are not going there.’ Mushtaque laughed out loudly and said, ‘Yes, we are not going there. After couple of hours, I will say, I could not come because of some urgent work.’ Saanchi winked and said, ‘And the love birds will get a lot of time together.’ Mushtaque replied, ‘And I and my wife are now going out for some nice hot coffee. Go get ready and wear the dress I got for you.’ Saanchi pulled Mushtaque’s cheeks and said , ‘In a moment darling.’

Kashish got two cups of tea and plate of snacks and kept it on the dining table. She then told Anurag, ‘Please come.’ Anurag came. Kashish had made onion fritters. Anurag loved onion fritters. Kashish knew that. Anurag took one of them and savored the taste of those perfectly cooked fritters. Kashish could feel how happy he was to have those. Anurag looked at Kashish and said, ‘The fritters are as delicious as always.’ Kashish said softly, ‘Thank you!’ Anurag then said, ‘How are your classes going on?’ Kashish replied, ‘Somewhat busy. How is work?’ Sipping his cup of tea Anurag said, ‘ As always. Nothing new.’ Kashish then asked, ‘How is everyone at home.’ Anurag replied, ‘Good.’ Kashish then sipped her cup of tea and said nothing. Kashish looked out of the window. Clouds started hovering over and the sky became dark. It seemed a storm was on its way.
