Mushtaque looked at Sara and said, ‘Are you going to say something now?’ Sara was quiet. Mushtaque went to Kashish. Kashish sat there like a statue. She was exhausted. She no longer had the energy to fight for anything. Mushtaque knelt beside Kashish and asked gently, ‘Kashish, do you remember what exactly you had seen in the video?’ Kashish looked at Mushtaque and said in an uninterested tone, ‘Anurag Sir making love with Sara.’ Anurag was stunned. Before Anurag could say something Mushtaque asked Kashish, ‘Are you sure, it was Anurag and Sara.’ Kashish said looking at blank spot, ‘Yes. Sara’s face was clearly visible and Anurag Sir’s back was visible. But I saw the gold chain clearly on his neck.’ Anurag could not remember a thing Kashish was talking about. Mushtaque then asked Kashish, ‘What about the photos?’ Kashish replied, ‘Sara was sleeping with her head on Anurag Sir’s chest.’ Mushtaque said, ‘And in all the pics Anurag was sleeping. Right?’ Kashish nodded, ‘Yes.’ Mushtaque then told Kashish, ‘So, now do you understand, Anurag was intoxicated. He did not know what was happening?’ Kashish replied nonchalantly, ‘He was…..making love…..’ Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘That was not Anurag.’ Sara stared at Mushtaque. Mushtaque went to Sara and said, ‘So, who was it? Tell us Sara?’ Sara shivered. She then said, ‘Yet nothing can be proved.’ Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘A gold chain cannot decide whether it was Anurag. Nonetheless let us check the cut mark at the right arm which was prominently visible in the video. Who has that?’ Sara knew the game was over.

Mushtaque walked up to Subhash. He was sweating profusely. Mushtaque told Naina, ‘Get a tissue for your husband, Ma’am. He is sweating. After all he had been sweating often. Mostly with Sara and sometimes while contriving conspiracies.’ Saying that Mushtaque told Subhash, ‘Can I see your right arm please and also your phone? Please!’ Subhash took out his phone. Mushtaque smiled and said, ‘The other one too.’ Subhash took out his other phone. Mushtaque then told Subhash, ‘Aha. Password please.’ Subhash reluctantly gave him the password. Mushtaque looked at the call logs and said, ‘So, you have deleted all the call logs. But then Akshit just called you and here is that number.’ Saying that Mushtaque clicked on the number and Akshit’s phone rang. Naina gazed at Subhash. She could not move her eyes off him. Anurag looked at Subhash with hatred. He came closer to Subhash and asked coldly, ‘Why uncle?’ Subhash looked at Anurag with rage and said, ‘BECAUSE I HATE YOU, I HATE SUMEDH. Our dad trusted Sumedh more than me. Entire responsibility of business was given to Sumedh and not me. And as the kids grew up, every responsibility of business was given to you and Aavish. Sanmit stood nowhere. Because of you my son is in jail. And this wretched girl Kashish…..she left no stone unturned to ruin this family. Tanaya was perfect for this house. She was obsessed with you and she would do anything for you. But no, you fell in love with this miserable girl Kashish. I had to get her out of this house. I used Sara and Akshit for this and even Anand Makhija.’ Naina stepped in, came closer to Subhash and slapped him tight and said, ‘And you slept with Sara? For revenge, you slept with that bitch?’ Subhash was quiet. Naina continued, ‘Yes, I wanted my Sanmit back and I hate the Kotharis for sending my son to jail, but you Subhash? Amidst all this, you had been cheating on me?’ Saying that Naina went to Sara and said, ‘And you? Don’t you know how young you are? You could have got anyone? Why this oldie? Yuck!!!!’ Sara snapped at Naina and said, ‘You called me a bitch, did you? What are you? You and your husband are traitors. You have deceived your own family. How can you be true to anyone else? Had there been love and trust between you two, no one could have come in between. I did all of it for money. But, trust me, you got what you deserved.’ Naina was about to slap Sara, when Sara held Naina’s hand and said, ‘Slap yourself you old woman. Don’t you dare touch me.’ Naina turned red with fury. Sofia came and said sternly, ‘No violence here my ladies. Both of you, get away from each other.’

Mushtaque then went to Sumedh and asked, ‘So why were you trying to take the blame on yourself?’ Sumedh replied with grief, ‘Well, I had come to know about the bank fraud and about Anurag’s pictures and videos. I did not want any of this to ruin our family reputation. Never knew Subhash hated me so much. I was also concerned about Anurag’s pictures and videos going viral. This was the only way to save the family.’

Anurag came closer to Sumedh, hugged him tight and said, ‘ I am sorry dad.’ With tears welled up in Sumedh’s eyes. Sumedh brushed Anurag’s head and said, ‘You have been through a lot son. Can’t see you and Kashish suffering anymore.’ Mushtaque came and smiled and said, ‘So now the wrong doers are coming with me to the police station. I am afraid, Sumedh Uncle will also have to come with us along with Kashish and Nishi. I would need their statements.’ Anurag said, ‘I am also coming.’ Mushtaque nodded, ‘Sure buddy.’ Aavish added, ‘I am coming too.’ Anurag said, ‘It’s okay Aavish. You can stay home. I will go.’ Aavish wanted to be with Nishi. But there was no way he could tell anyone that now. But he listened to Anurag and stayed back.

At the police station, all the formalities were done and statements taken. There would be fresh trial on these. The law would take its course. After all the formalities were done, Mushtaque told Anurag, ‘You can take Uncle and Kashish home.’ Sofia will drop Nishi home. Anurag hugged Mushtaque and said, ‘Thanks bro. Without you, things wouldn’t have been resolved.’ Mushtaque patted Anurag’s shoulder and said, ‘Oh come on buddy. I just did my duty. Now take Uncle and Kashish and go home. I will see you all tomorrow.’ Anurag went to Kashish and said, ‘Come Kashish. Let’s go home.’ Kashish sat there on the bench beside Nishi, stared at a blank spot and said, ‘I am not coming with you.’ Anurag looked at Kashish confused and said, ‘I did not understand.’ Kashish looked at Anurag blankly and said, ‘I am not going back to that house.’ Anurag rubbed his hair, looked at Kashish, knelt beside her, held her hand and said, ‘Look sweetheart, I know, no words can alleviate your pain, but I am with you. I won’t let you suffer again.’ Kashish pulled away her hand, stood up and said, ‘No. I meant, I won’t go to that house again nor should we be together again.’ Anurag stood up, went closer to Kashish, looked in her eyes and asked puzzled, ‘What are you saying Kashish?’ Kashish moved away from Anurag and said softly yet assertively, ‘In simple ways, we part ways Anurag Sir. I will never fit in this family and I have no more energy left to fight more wars. Neither do I want you to protect me all your life fighting with your family. Moreover, your family is not wrong. Look at you, Anurag Sir, right from your looks to your education to your status, I am nothing compared to you. And every time I come closer to you, there will be problems. Hence, from today, we part ways.’ Anurag listened to Kashish wide eyed. He went closer to her, held her shoulders gently and said, ‘Wait Kashish…you are saying all of this because at this moment you are still in pain. Once we go home everything is going to be fine. I promise.’ Kashish removed Anurag’s hands from her shoulders and said softly, ‘Please do not touch me again. I am going out of your life. I want you to be happy and I want your family to be happy. And as long as I am there in your life, no one can be happy.’ Anurag replied in an agonizing tone, ‘And you think I will be happy without you in my life?’ Kashish replied sternly, ‘You have to be and that’s all. I don’t know where I will go, but I will manage.’ Nishi interrupted, ‘What do you mean you don’t know where you will go Kashish? You will stay with me my friend.’ Anurag was shattered. His eyes showed his pain. Kashish felt that pain. Anurag was broken deep down. Kashish knew it will take time but eventually Anurag will come out of it. He deserves someone way better. Kashish went to Nishi and said, ‘I will stay with you till exams. After that I will find a job and move out. Matter of a month.’ Nishi held Kashish’s face gently and said, ‘My home is your home. And I won’t let you leave my home easily. Come with me now.’ Nishi went to Mushtaque and said, ‘Sir, can you please help us go home.’ Mushtaque nodded and instructed Sofia to drop the girls home. Nishi and Kashish left with Sofia. Anurag sat on the bench devastated. Mushtaque sat beside him and put his hand on his shoulder and said nothing……………….
